Default npc that provides information about the area or mission

Hi All,

I was think it might be a good idea to have an in game npc that can give advice about usefully skill(s) for the area or mission. I have run into a lot of people that only have one campaign and they complain that it is hard to get help because they don’t have those skills that people recommend or for when they can not find help for the limited skills set that they have. Also, it can help new player pick out appropriate skills to use in that area they can not find help from guilds, other players, extra. The idea is to try and keep the new players that might be discouraged from playing because they find it hard to get useful help; expressly those that are moving from WoW to GW. Perhaps you have a better idea? I though it was worth pointing out since there is a learning curve to the game and choosing good skills and stuff is one of the more important parts of the game; also it makes the game more enjoyment if you have the correct skills.

In any case it’s just an idea to think about.

Later,
Mystic Witch

The mission NPC generally brief you on the approximate dangers you'll be facing. Nothing specific, because that's for you to find out on your own.

This is sort of redundant now that the official wiki is integrated into the game. The wiki has comprehensive info about all the foes in missions, quests, and explorable areas, as well as specific notes about tactics and skills for missions. If you don't know how to access the wiki in-game, you can press F10(default), type /help or /wiki in chat, or type /wiki X to search wiki for topic of X.

There are already such NPCs.

They are usually near the middle of the Mission outpost and give a short briefing about the Mission.

For further info you need to use the wiki.

Keep in mind that those NPCs that already exist were only implemented in Factions and Nightfall (maybe EotN, can't remember there). They were not placed in Prophecies.

Also, yes /wiki or http://gw.gamewiki.org is a good source of info.
